At 2,121 metres, Hospiz turns location into privilege.

At the heart of Passo Gardena, the natural gateway between Val Gardena and Alta Badia, framed by the dramatic Sella Massif and the protected landscapes of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, it offers immediate access to some of the most spectacular scenery in the Dolomites.

While others are still making their way up from the valley, you are already here — stepping onto the first snow, setting out on empty trails, or enjoying the silence of Passo Gardena after the day has moved on.

1896 — 2026

A place that has always welcomed those on the move

The first Hospiz opened on Passo Gardena in 1896, when crossing the Dolomites was still a demanding journey. It offered travellers, mountaineers and merchants a warm meal, a safe shelter and a place to rest before continuing on.

For more than 130 years, Hospiz has remained part of the identity of Passo Gardena.

Today, Hospiz comes to life once again. The building has been completely reimagined, but the values that inspired the original Hospiz live on: authenticity, simplicity and a deep connection with the landscape that surrounds it.

Be among the first on the Sellaronda, hike directly into the Puez-Odle Nature Park, ride the legendary Dolomite passes or climb the iconic Little and Great Cir via ferratas at sunrise and sunset.

Wake up early to reach a summit at sunrise. Stay out until the last light paints the Sella Massif in shades of pink.
